Crowns

The British crown — five shillings, and for three centuries the largest silver coin in ordinary use. Struck from the reign of Edward VI through to the cupro-nickel commemoratives of the twentieth century.

Each coin here is a single specimen, listed once and sold once. The grade shown is the supplying dealer's own assessment, quoted as he gave it, and most of these are listed without a photograph — see Condition & authentication for what the grades mean.

These are collectors' coins, not investment gold: the VAT exemption that covers gold coins does not apply, and pre-decimal silver is no longer legal tender so the Capital Gains Tax exemption for current UK coinage does not apply either.
